Travel & Access Detail
- Most guests drive to us via the A590. The house is in Cunsey, a gorgeous 20 minute woodland drive from Newby Bridge. Cunsey is a 10 minute drive from Hawkshead and a 5 minute drive from the Windermere to Sawrey ferry terminal. The ferry is fun but can be unreliable – check updates on Twitter (@windermereferry) before travel.
- Unfortunately there is little public transport in the area – although in summer there is a bus service nearby, and taxis are available.
- The house is located up a short unsurfaced private track with an (unlocked) access gate. There is exclusive parking in a private parking space or on the public highway if you prefer.
- There is an external electric power socket in the entrance porch – good to know if you need to recharge an electric vehicle.
- The house is in an elevated position overlooking treetops to the lake on the horizon. There’s a wooden walkway of 14 shallow steps uphill between the parking space, entry porch and the house.
- Regrettably this means that the house is unsuitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Pets and babies should be supervised at all times on the steps.
- The property exterior is sensitively lit at night, so even if you arrive after dark you needn’t worry.
