Our Terms & Conditions (available here) have now been updated in relation to Covid19 and we review them regularly as the uncertain impact of Covid19 continues.

For the foreseeable future we will operate a revised cleaning and changeover protocol in line with governmental  advice and guidelines by the Professional Association of Self-Caterers UK. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our Covid19-related procedures.

If you have visited us before, you will notice a few changes that better facilitate the intensive cleaning and sanitising now required: a longer changeover (check in and out is now 4.30pm & 10am) and the withdrawal of certain high-touch non-washable furnishings – e.g our sheepskin rug :-( –  and provisions we used to supply (e.g kitchen foil). Hopefully this won’t be forever.

The Love Shack is usually available to book online all year round, but please get in touch as far ahead as you can as we get so many more enquiries than we can accommodate. Especially if you’re after a weekend!

Our least expensive months are January & February, and our Peak Season runs May until September inclusive, with a slight price drop in August when we find ourselves less busy than larger holiday lets locally. Please check our live diary here for your preferred dates and to secure your break with a deposit payment.

Automatic discounts are applied in the scarce circumstances that a break is still available 3 days ahead of its start (30% discount of full price). You can always check out last minute availability (and the odd lovely picture) is on our Facebook page here.

We offer:
3 day short weekend breaks (Fri – Mon) and 4 day midweek breaks (Mon – Fri) as well as full 7 night weeks and longer breaks. Our change days are invariably Friday or Monday, although you are welcome to arrive on a later day or depart earlier than your booking, of course. Full weeks can run from Friday or Monday. Contact us directly if you have any further questions about the property.

We always offer return guests a discount too, supplied as a code in our exclusive Guest Mail-Out.

Lastly – yes, we allow you to bring one nice dog.

Additional information

  • Cunsey is a 5 minute drive from the Windermere to Sawrey ferry terminal (the ferry is rather unreliable though) , 10 minutes drive from Hawkshead or 20 minutes drive from Newby Bridge.
  • Unfortunately there is little public transport in the area – although in summer there is a bus service nearby, and taxis are available.
  • The house is accessed from the village road up a 15m, unsurfaced private track with an (unlocked) access gate. There is parking in a private parking space or on the village road.
  • As the property is in an elevated position, there are stone steps and a wooden walkway of 14 shallow steps uphill between the entry porch and the house.
  • Regrettably this means that the house is unsuitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Pets and infants should be supervised at all times.
  • The property exterior is sensitively lit at night, so even if you arrive after dark you needn’t worry.
