Booking

The Love Shack is available all year round, but please get in touch as far ahead as you can as we get so many more enquiries than we can accommodate. Especially if you’re after a weekend or a special occasion like a cosy Christmas, anniversary or – dare-we-say-it – a proposal (100% success rate BTW)! You can book directly online here, at any time. Check our live diary on this page and secure your break with a deposit payment.

Automatic discounts of 30% are applied in the scarce circumstances that a break is still available 3 days ahead of its start – so keep an eye open for those if you like a bargain. You can always check out last minute availability (and the odd lovely picture) is on our Facebook page here.

We are trialling shorter breaks (min. 2 nights) in 2024 for the first time, in a few specific months. Check our booking calendar to see if we can offer more flexibility for dates you are considering. But in general we offer: 3 day short weekend breaks (Fri – Mon) and 4 day midweek breaks (Mon – Fri) as well as full 7 night weeks and longer breaks. Our change days for these breaks are Friday or Monday, although you are welcome to arrive on a later day or depart earlier than your booking, of course. Full weeks can run from Friday or Monday. Contact us directly if you have any further questions about booking the property.

We always offer return guests and their friends and family a discount too, supplied as a code in our exclusive Guest Mail-Out.

Lastly – yes, we allow you to bring one nice dog. Extra points if you send us a nice picture of it enjoying the house.

Travel & Access Detail

  • Most guests drive to us via the A590. The house is in Cunsey, a gorgeous 20 minute woodland drive from Newby Bridge. Cunsey is a 10 minute drive from Hawkshead and a 5 minute drive from the Windermere to Sawrey ferry terminal. The ferry is fun but can be unreliable – check updates on Twitter (@windermereferry) before travel.
  • Unfortunately there is little public transport in the area – although in summer there is a bus service nearby, and taxis are available.
  • The house is located up a short unsurfaced private track with an (unlocked) access gate. There is exclusive parking in a private parking space or on the public highway if you prefer.
  • There is an external electric power socket in the entrance porch – good to know if you need to recharge an electric vehicle.
  • The house is in an elevated position overlooking treetops to the lake on the horizon. There’s a wooden walkway of 14 shallow steps uphill between the parking space, entry porch and the house.
  • Regrettably this means that the house is unsuitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Pets and babies should be supervised at all times on the steps.
  • The property exterior is sensitively lit at night, so even if you arrive after dark you needn’t worry.
